Forum for new DSLs
Are you a new Designated Safeguarding Lead or deputy looking for a small-group (30 Maximum) setting to explore your new role, better understand issues and develop skills to support you with others who are also starting out as DSLs? Then this is the programme for you!
The Forum for new DSLs is a series of four 1.5-hour interactive group sessions over the space of a term which will bring together 15 new DSLs to develop confidence and provide the opportunity to ask open questions in a relaxed environment hosted by an experienced safeguarding lead and trainer alongside others who are new to the role and facing similar issues.
Please note this is designed to supplement and does not in any way replace the full DSL training course.
Note that attendees must attend all four sessions, so we ask applicants to secure their headteacher’s support and commitment to release them for all four sessions.
This is particularly important to help the group share together and practically because we are limiting the size of the group.
Building on resources from your Local Safeguarding Children Partnership and initial DSL training, you will acquire and build knowledge and skills and explore the challenges faced within the role. The programme addresses compliance with statutory guidance and creating an effective safeguarding culture in you setting and gives you many opportunities to share good practice and build a valuable new peer network.
